Apple just filed a patent for an iRing. The imminent apple device is a wearable smart ring with touch, gesture, voice controls and loaded with sensors.

With the iRing you can control your iPhone, iPad, Mac and other apple devices without touching any of these devices.

It comes with a free iRing FX/Controller app that could be used by  musicians for touchless controls in 3D through the powerful effects processor. The iRing tracks your movements and gestures and translates them into control over a wide range of music and other apps.

The iRing has WiFi capabilities that lets you sync your Mac to the iRing. This sync capability lets you use the iRing as a powerful MIDI controller on some music creation and DJ software. It uses your iPhone and iPad camera to record and share with friends. With the front-facing camera and the rear camera, iRing works from up to 2.5 feet away and 5 feet away respectively.

iRing is compatible with the following:

iPhone Models

  • iPhone 4
  • iPhone 4s
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 5c
  • iPhone 5s

iPad Models

  • iPad 2 (2nd generation)
  • iPad (3rd generation)
  • iPad with Retina display
  • iPad mini
  • iPad mini 2
  • iPad Air

iPod Models

  • iPod touch 5th Generation 32GB/64GB
  • iPod touch 5th Generation 16GB

The iRing creates endless opportunities for app developers.

What do you think about the new iRing?

  1. Seems far fetched to me. You want to read text msgs through a ring now. I am yet to see any record breaking sales for their iwatch, which in reality is struggling. The wearable tech industry is so saturated now and very volatile because of so many factors so I would suggest Apple to stick to their main products
